Frequently asked questions
Does Clarity connect to my bank?
No. Clarity never connects to your bank or any financial institution. All data is entered manually by you and stored entirely on your device. Nothing is shared with third parties.
Where is my data stored?
All your data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad using on-device storage. It never leaves your device and is not uploaded to any server or cloud service.
What is the debt auto-update feature?
When turned on in Settings, Clarity automatically reduces each of your debt balances by their monthly payment amount on the 1st of each month. This keeps your balances and payoff progress up to date without any manual input. You can turn this on or off at any time.
How do I set up Face ID?
Go to Settings within Clarity and toggle on “Face ID app lock”. You’ll be asked to authenticate once to confirm. After that, Clarity will require Face ID each time you open the app. You can turn this off at any time in Settings.
How do I change the currency?
Go to Settings and tap Currency. Choose from the list of supported currencies — the change takes effect immediately across the whole app.
How do I edit or delete an income, bill, or debt?
On any income, bill, or debt row, tap the pencil icon to edit it or the bin icon to delete it. You’ll be asked to confirm before anything is permanently deleted.
Does Clarity work on iPad?
Yes. Clarity is fully optimised for iPad with a layout that adapts to the larger screen, including a sidebar navigation and split-view panels for a more comfortable experience.
Will I lose my data if I delete and reinstall the app?
Yes — because all data is stored locally on your device, deleting the app will remove your data. We recommend reviewing your entries before uninstalling. Cloud backup support is planned for a future update.
How is the final debt payment date calculated?
If you enter an APR, Clarity uses a standard amortisation formula to calculate an accurate payoff date that accounts for interest. If no APR is entered, it divides your current balance by your monthly payment to estimate the date.
